Los Angeles twinned with Manchester

LA has approached Manchester to develop links in business, art, culture, science and education. The City of Angels, home to former Manchester United player David Beckham, joins Wuhan, St Petersburg, Chemnitz and Faisalabad as Manchester's twins.

Richard Leese told the MEN, "I am delighted to welcome our counterparts from Los Angeles council to Manchester in what will be the start of a mutually beneficial partnership.

"The synergies and strengths of both cities, particularly in terms of our sport, creative and media sectors present huge opportunities for promoting cultural and economic exchanges between LA and Manchester."

  1. How utterly rediculous - how much council tax payers money is being spent on this when it should be spent on improving peoples lives and the area of Manchester, especially in these tough times.

Clearly the bosses at Manchester Council are not in the real world - there are absolutely no similarities with Manchester and L.A. and for the link with David Beckham to be mentioned makes the point clearer to be a complete waste of time if this is the best we can do. We don't care about David Beckham! Manchester Vs Los Angeles...hmmmm I don't think so.

Come on Manchester Council, pull the other one - do something useful for the people of Manchester for a change rather than wasting our money.
